If your laptop dies or the connection drops
In short
Your work is safer than it feels in the moment. Code and explanations save on three layers: to your device every 30 seconds, to the server every 2 minutes, and as periodic server snapshots while the attempt is open.
What actually happens
- Connection drops: the session freezes on a clear overlay until the connection returns. Local saves continue while you're offline and sync when you're back. Disconnects are logged as events, not punished.
- Laptop dies: reopen the assessment on the same account. Pre-flight is skipped and you're dropped back into the session with your drafts restored.
- The timer keeps running: it lives on the server, so closing the tab or losing power does not pause it. If an outage cost you real time, your faculty can extend the deadline while your attempt is still live.
- If the timer expires first, the assessment submits itself with everything saved up to that point.
