Research and change education with us
Education should leave every student ready to do real work. We want to find out what gets them there, and change it, with you.

A degree says where you studied. It rarely shows what you can do. We research what changes that, with colleges, universities and employers, and publish what we find.
What we want to find out
These are the questions we are working on right now. Each study uses the method its question needs.
- Practice that comes back. Practice spread over days is known to help memory. Does it help students preparing for placements, where coming back is their own choice?
- Tests that show the work. Work samples are known to predict how people do at work. Do tasks where students build something predict how far they get in placement drives?
- Learning with AI. AI can help learning or harm it, depending on how it is built. When does it help an engineering student learn to build?
- Skills that carry into work. Training is known to pay off slowly, often years later. How do the skills a student builds in college carry into placements and the first year at work? And how can every college measure that simply?
If you have a question that matters more, tell us.
What we want to change
- How students learn. We want students to learn each subject the way it is used at work, by doing it and seeing what to change.
- What a degree shows. We want a degree to tell an employer what a graduate can do.
- How we find out what works. We want colleges to know what works in teaching, so a good idea on one campus reaches every campus.
Who can take part
Anyone who cares how students learn can take part. Here is what that can look like.
- Colleges that want a study on their own students, to find what works in their teaching.
- Faculty who want to try a change in how they teach and see whether it helps.
- Students who want to take part in a study, and write it up with their faculty as co-authors.
- Researchers and employers who study how people learn, how learning is measured or how graduates do at work.
Students and faculty, together
A study can run in one class, with its faculty and its students. The students can help plan it, take part in it and write it up with their faculty. When it is published, they are named on it as co-authors.
What we publish
We publish what we find, with the colleges, universities and employers who worked on it with us. It appears here, in News.
